The average session lasts one hour and costs £ 46- £ 50 per hour, depending on the age and needs of the student. Block bookings of ten hours, holiday booster sessions and even smaller 'booster bundles' of 5 hours are all available. Advance booking is needed as I carry a waiting list. I tailor my provision for each child and academic level. For the upper KS2 age range, we focus on English and Verbal Reasoning. I alternate lessons between an hour on each the main key areas: focussed reading, text reading skills, inferencing skills, acquiring and applying new vocabulary in creative writing, planning, redrafting, writing and editing creative writing and mastering grammatical and linguistic terminology. I help students become confident writers. Younger entrance exam candidates are also taught the 20 main Verbal Reasoning skills and are guided through exam papers. Older year 9 to year 11 students are supported in a similar way but with more targeted focus on their GCSE Language skills and set GCSE Literary texts, consolidating knowledge and honing exam skills. I teach with a range of resources and, due to the current COV-19 pandemic, I currently offer scheduled regular online tuition using the Zoom and Google platforms, shared interactive worksheets, emailed tasks, slideshows, study guides, films and a host of other useful learning tools to help. Many related or extension resources are available to buy in my online shop.

I work closely with the student and their parents in order to maximise the chances of success. As I have worked in a variety of top grammar and independent schools, I'm happy to advise parents on which schools would best suit their own son or daughter; you have to find the school to suit the child, not the other way around! I have taught at King Edward's School Bath, The Abbey Girls' and, for 13 years full time, Hampton Boy's School. I am familiar with their different cultures, strengths and systems and can also advise parents who are considering changing their child's school. I am very experienced with the Tiffin, Bucks and Slough Consortium entrance exam systems and have created my own resource bank to help grammar school applicants prepare. Interviews are now an integral part of many school applications. Preparation and support is another service I offer. To date, of the 76 students who were selected for interviews at schools as diverse as Wimbledon High, Kingston Grammar, Wycombe Abbey, Hampton School (years 7,8,9 and 12) Royal Bath High and LEH, all were offered places. 21 of my successful 10+ exam students also went on to gain 11+ scholarships and continue to thrive, remaining above average in already strong year groups as they progress through school . Equally, students who have moved schools within the state system have gone on to secure far higher GCSE results than predicted.
